How does aging affect appetite?

We all need food every day, but as we age, our relationship with food changes and this has a profound effect on our health.

We have a very complex relationship with our diet and it depends on food price, availability, and the likes and dislikes of our peers. But it is certain that regardless of the difference we all have one thing in common and that is the desire to eat.

When we are hungry, we want to eat. But most of the times we consume food even when we are not hungry and sometimes we don't eat even when we are very hungry.

Is life possible on a single diet?

'Quitting sugar altogether was a big mistake'

According to recent research, the environment around us forces us to eat and provides cues that make us eat more than we want.

The relationship with food in human life changes in different parts of the age and to understand this relationship it can be divided into seven parts.

First decade - from birth to ten years of age

The human body changes rapidly during childhood and the eating behavior expressed at that time affects the future as well, if a child is obese at a young age, it will remain the same as an adult.

Many times parents have problems with their children's eating habits, but this can be changed by having a positive attitude towards food. On the other hand, children can also express their wishes about food, such as how much food they want to eat.

Usually, parents force children to finish all the food on the plate, but this does not allow children to express their desire and because of this behavior, they end up consuming more than they want in the future. Going forward, the fears of their obesity increase.

In addition, governments are under pressure to protect children from junk food advertisements that make them want to eat more and can cause them to gain weight.

Second decade - from ten to twenty years of age

By the time they reach puberty, children's appetites are increasing, and young people's attitudes towards food at this age have a profound effect on their future lifestyles.

Malnutrition is more harmful in younger women because it can affect their reproductive function later on.

20 to 30 years of age

Changes at this age, such as going to college, getting married, and becoming parents, are likely to lead to weight gain.

And once body fat accumulates, it is quite difficult to lose it. Eating less food causes the body to receive signals that encourage it to eat more food. Apart from this, there are many mental and other reasons that make it difficult to maintain a balanced diet.

In this regard, a new field of research is being conducted, which aims to create a system for the human body to feel full despite eating less.

Fourth decade - 30 to 40 years of age

Diet is not the only problem in this age group but other life issues also cause problems which affect appetite. Some of them tend to overeat while others avoid food.

It is a bit difficult to correct eating behavior in this age group. Often people are doing jobs and in that environment something is being eaten. Organizations should encourage good eating habits among their employees as well as help them deal with stress.

Fifth decade - 40 to 50 years of age

There is clear evidence that poor diet and related habits play a major role in ill health. According to the World Health Organization, smoking, unhealthy diet, lazy lifestyle and alcohol consumption have very harmful effects on health.

In this context, it is very important to change the eating habits in the age of 40 to 50 because the factors that indicate ill health such as increased blood pressure or cholesterol are not visible.

Sixth decade - 50 to 60 years of age

At this age, the muscles start to weaken. But this can be avoided if attention is paid to diet, such as emphasizing protein-rich foods to maintain good muscle health.

The effects of aging can be reduced if a good diet and a healthy lifestyle are adopted and exercise is continued.

60 to 70 years of age

Another challenge posed by the aging of the population is how to live a good life, otherwise there is a fear that our society will be filled with elderly people who will be frail and frail and unable to take care of themselves.

It is very important for older people to get good nutrition otherwise they can become dangerously underweight and this can lead to various diseases.

We must remember how important food is in our lives and that it not only provides us with nutrition but is an important part of our social and community habits.

We should try to eat food with pleasure and healthy food will have positive effects on our health.
