How can chicken-loving Pakistanis cut oil out of their lives?

Pakistanis are counted in the list of countries in the world where people are considered to be fond of delicious food.

Not only this, but most of the tourists from all over the world also fall in love with Pakistani food, but they complain that oil and chillies are used liberally in Pakistani food, to which our response is often the same. It is the takaka, thri and oil that make the food taste delicious.

According to the United State Department of Agriculture (USDA) research, every Pakistani consumes an average of more than 24 liters of oil per year, which is alarmingly high according to global public health standards.

Oily eating habits lead to heart disease in 40% of people, which also leads to death.

Pakistan also consumes more oil than India, where each citizen consumes an average of 19 liters of oil per year.

Have you ever thought about your health?

When mentioning all these data to a gentleman, I asked him the question that you eat so much chicken food, have you ever thought that it can cause various diseases?

In response to this question, he asked me in reverse that you will eat dal with salt and pepper without tadka. Then they said that we are sick to eat food cooked without oil?

Probably most Pakistanis give the same answer. There are also some people who believe that the disease is not related to your lifestyle and diet.

Muhammad Amjad, a resident of Lahore, is very fond of eating out. Eating nihari, pai, halwa puri and other chicken food is their daily routine, but according to them, food has nothing to do with any disease.

While talking about this, he gave an example that 'There is a doctor living near our house who is quite thin and takes two time walks a day but still he had a heart attack a week ago. While I eat everything, I am completely fine.

Doctors and nutritionists strongly disagree with Mohammad Amjad and others who make such arguments. According to him, a balanced diet and less consumption of oil is very important for a healthy life.

According to the doctors, the use of excessive and non-standard oil can not only cause diseases like cancer and diabetes along with heart diseases, but it damages the cells and DNA in your body while the Prevents proteins from working properly.'

Use of substandard oil in Pakistan

According to DG Punjab Food Authority Raja Jahangir Anwar, the biggest challenge for them is the use of this oil in homes rather than the prevention of substandard oil used in the streets.

Talking to BBC, he said that according to our research, 70% of substandard oil is used by domestic consumers in Pakistan, while 30% of substandard oil is used commercially.

He further said that in our homes oil is used for frying not once but dozens of times. Due to which he burns again and again. By which it loses its original nutrition and turns into a harmful product, becoming a bad and smelly oil.

He further said that the oil industry is very big and the culture of frying and fast food is also growing rapidly in Pakistan, while we are always trying to prevent bad oil being used on commercial basis.

Edible oil comes second in the imports from Pakistan, while as a result of high demand, the cost of imported edible oil in Pakistan is about four billion dollars.

It should be noted that Pakistan imports the most palm oil from Malaysia and then Indonesia.

How can we reduce the oil in our lives?

Chef Faiza strives in her kitchen to create dishes that are easily prepared with less oil.

"Most women complain that they don't fry food properly in less oil, so you can use a clay or non-stick pan, or if you can afford it, you can spend a little more money in an air fryer." You can also get a fryer in which you can cook food without the use of oil.
